What are smoothies?

Generally speaking, smoothies are between-meal drinks. Or probably one that would drink after a workout, like a protein shake etc. But over the last few weeks, the H and me have had this as a soothing sugar free after breakfast drink and with the mercury soaring high it makes a great start to the day too. Some basic  ingredients and you have a winner on hand. 

Why Sugar free Kiwi Basil Smoothie?

Sugar in most forms do not appeal to us at breakfast or in a smoothie. But one can always add sugar or honey to this, but we liked it as it is. Eating fruits in its most natural form is most favoured at home. The next best bet is a smoothie.

Ingredients to make Sugar free Kiwi Basil Smoothie:

  • 3 Kiwi (Fresh or canned) 
  • 4 Fresh basil leaves 
  • 3 Dates  (Can Sub with sugar or honey) 
  • 1 tsp black salt 
  • 1 cup Ice Crushed

Method to make Sugar free Kiwi Basil Smoothie:

  1. Peel and dice kiwi. Keep chilled. 
  2. Wash and shred basil into thin ribbons. 
  3. In a blender, add all ingredients. Blend till frothy. Serve in a tall cold glass.

Ingredients

  • 3 Kiwi Fresh or canned

    Most of my smoothies are with either milk or yogurt but one fruit I don’t like to pair with either is kiwi. It gives a slight different taste. Like your idea of using just crushed ice and the most interesting is the addition of black salt. Your sugar free kiwi basil smoothie is definitely a must try recipe.
