The kids have made this many times on their own, and with store-bought Jajeera powder, its a child’s play, literally. But with a homemade premix listed below, it’s easy on the wallet as well as is fresh, tangy and refreshing every time you make it.

Jal Jeera – Vegan, GF, Summer Drink

Prep time – 5 mins, No cook, serves – 3

  • Ice cold water – 4 glasses + extra ice as required.
  • 2 tsp Dried Mint powder (dehydrate and lightly powder mint)
  • 2 tsp Roasted Cumin powder (bhuna jeera powder)
  • 1 tsp Chaat Masala
  • 1 tsp Black Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cardamom (optional but recommended)
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida (skip for GF)
  • 2 tsp Jaggery powder
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 2 tsp Ginger Powder

Topping:

  • 2 tsp Crushed mint leaves
  • Store bought Boondi

How to make Jal Jeera at home

  1. In a spice blender, add all the dry ingredients and pulse to a fine powder, sieve and store in a box.
  2. In a large bowl, add the chilled water, the spice powder mix and blend it well.
  3. To serve, add this cooler to a serving glass, top with crushed mint leaves and boondi.
  4. Mix a bit and serve immediately adding more ice if needed

Ingredients

    I have never tried jaljeera with that powder , but I am sure with the addition of mint , boondi and jaggery it must be great .

    To have Jaljeera mix at hand during summer is so helpful. One can make a thirst quenching, flavourful, cooling drink in a jiffy. Haven’t tried jal jeera with boondi. Will add some when I make the drink next time.

    Thanda thanda cool cool jaljeera… I like to add jal jeera paani to pani puris and enjoy them while V loves to sip on jaljeera with crunchy boondi 🙂
