Equipment

  • Oven Can sub with OTG for varied bake time
  • Knife and Cutting Board can sub with scissors
  • silicon brush

Ingredients

  • 2 Wholewheat tortillas
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp red chill powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garam masala we love indian flavours
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 160 deg C. Prepare a mix of all the flavouring spices with a dash of neutral oll (you can practically use anything you fancy –it would still taste good).
  • With a brush, spread the spice mix on the tortilla.
  • With a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut out sectors of any size you need (smaller prices are quick to bake
(and burn) and large pieces would take ½ min more, so don’t mix the sizes)
  • Place the seasoned tortillas on a lined sheet. Bake for 6-8 mins (first batch took 9 mins, and then it was
quicker after that – I actually forgot how many batches I made and finally declared the kitchen closed)
  • Keep hovering near the oven all the time if you need non-burnt chips
  • Meanwhile take out the prepared salsa and guacamole out of the freezer. Assemble and serve immediately.
  • The second time I made this, we ran out of salsa quickly and amped it with the Classic Hummus and Tzatziki

Notes

Tips to make the best Tortilla chips :

What can you serve it with ? Best with Guacamole and SAlsa. The second time I made this, we ran out of salsa and Guacamole quickly and we amped the Baked Tortilla Chips with the Classic Hummus , Charred pineapple salsa and Tzatziki.
Can I make these chips with Corn Tortillas ? Any flatbread good enough to bake into chips will work.
Can I deep fry the roti to make chips ? By all means, one can deep fry. Baking or air frying is preferred at home so I have air fried these
I dont have an air fryer / Oven. Can I still make it ?  Yes, you can gently press the cut out tortillas one by one on a hot tava / skillet with a soft clean cloth all around the flatbread until they dry out completely and proceed with the rest of the dish. Of course, this is time consuming compared to deep fry / air fryer / baking methods
